AMIE 2016 - Application Form, Exam Dates, Admit Card


AMIE 2016 stands for Associate Membership of Institute  of Engineers Exam is is an enginering entrance exam which is conducted bi-annually namely AMIE winter exam and AMIE summer exam. It offers various engineering degree courses to those students who are unable to pursue these through regular study in engineering colleges. To gain admission into AIMIEs engineering courses an enterance test is conducted by Institution of Engineers and the courses offered by AMIE are generally equivalent to B.E/B.Tech courses of AICTE/government of India /other states. This particular entrance exam is designed keeping in mind two streams namely Diploma Stream (Senior Technician Members) and Non Diploma Stream (Technician Members) separately.

AMIE 2016 Eligibility Criteria

Age limits:

Those candidates who wish to apply for this course should ensure that they are a minimum of 18 years of age on the date of application for selection.

Educational Qualification:

For Technician Members: Those Candidates wish to apply for technician members can do so if they possess a minimum qualification of a pass in the class 12th examination scoring a minimum of 45%marks aggregate.

For Senior Technician Member: Those candidates who wish to apply for senior technician member or seek to upgrade from technician member to senior technician member have to ensure that they should be 18 years of age and should be an engineer by profession working under a corporate Member or a person qualified to be elected as a Corporate Member. The candidate should also be striving to acquire the qualification for Corporate Membership and temporary unemployment is not considered as an impediment to being elected. The candidate should have also passed a diploma examination in engineering or technology  or its equivalent that is recognized by the council as exsempting from passing Section A of the Institution of Engineers examination in the Non-diploma stream.

AMIE 2016 Syllabus & Exam Pattern

The AMIE paper will consist of those questions that belong to the relative trade subjects.

AMIE 2016 Exam Pattern

Section A examination: This examination is common for those who aspire to become engineers via acquiring an AMIE (I). Basic Sciences, Engineering Science and communication will be covered in order of the preparation of the candidate. After the project work the candidate can move on to section b via selection of a particular discipline from among the streams offered.

Section B Examination: After the completion of section A the student is expected to complete a project work over a period of one year and only on the basis of a satisfactory professional competence report the candidate will then be allowed to appear for section B examination which will consist of 10 papers overall of which 7 are compulsory core subjects and the other 3 are optional

AMIE 2016 Exam dates

The exam is usually held during the summers (May/June) and in winters (Nov/Dec)

Examination Fees: The examination fees for AMIE is 2000/- INR whereas overseas examination fee is 150$.

Those candidates who wish to apply can avail the application form for AMIE via sending a DD of Prescribed Prices through the Admission/ Selection Office of The organization and send the duly completed application form attached with the DD in favour of “The Finance Officer, to Admission Section, Office of the Controller of Examination and admissions”.
